We have been talking a lot in class about animals that hibernate and migrate in autumn to prepare for the winter. However, this week, we turned our attention to the animals that stay around during the winter- particularly birds- and the challenges they face to find food in Winter time. We learned that birds love to eat things like, fruit, nuts and sunflower seeds, and the we can help birds survive the winter months if we begin to feed them. With this in mind, we designed and made our own bird feeders in second class this week. The girls had to design a bird feeder that had a perch for a bird to land on, a place to put food for the bird to eat, and a roof to cover the food! The girls made wonderful designs, and these designs were transformed into real-life bird feeders using recycled materials. Have a look to see some of the fabulous designs. The girls were very proud of their bird feeders, and they got lots of attention from other teachers in the school. Well done girls!
